A-DATA eSATA-Capable N909 Gives You Storage with Speed

A-DATA’s new N909 to give you the speed you need when storing and retrieving your files from a portable stick.

When fast just isn’t fast enough (or you just don’t have a USB 3.0 port on your computer) you can rely on A-DATA’s new N909 to give you the speed you need when storing and retrieving your files from a portable stick.  That’s right, this USB thumb drive slots right into your eSATA port giving you read/write speeds approaching USB 3.0 and doesn’t even need another port to draw power.  But is it worth the hassle?
Most new-ish computers come equipped with eSATA ports while USB 3.0 ports are reserved primarily for new computers right out of the box.  That’s why A-DATA has set their sites on selling to users with semi-old tech and big egos with their new N909.  It may not be the smartest business model (like betting money on a last-gen gaming console) but until USB 3.0 becomes a household standard, they’ll have a market.

But do you get what you pay for?  The N909 can achieve read speeds up to 90MB per second and write speeds of up to 50MB per second.  That’s fast, and it’s handy.  However, the device will also work in standard USB 2.0 ports as well (although at nowhere near those speeds.)  The question still remains though if those speeds are really necessary when reading/writing data.
If you’re a soccer mom looking to back up you’re brownie recipe or a grade-school kid that wants to (wisely) make a copy of his homework, you can probably stick to a USB drive, unless you’re the type who loves having the biggest and the best.  However, if you’re a professional on the go and time is of the essence (reports, businesspersons, secret agents) the A-DFATA N909 is perfect for you.
